About Us

The Past…

The Muslim Khoja Shia Ithna-asheri community of Peterborough has its foundations in the families who settled there after being expelled from Uganda in early 1970’s, and gradually expanded until in 1978 it was the first purpose-built Mosque for the Khoja Shia Ithna-asheri community in the West, opened by Marhum Mullah Asgharali M M Jaffer.

The Present…

Alhamdulillah the community has grown considerably over the last 33 years which has led to a need for expansion of the centre. We aim to create a centre that serves the needs of the community over the next 25 years, providing the environment and facilities to sustain the faith of our members. We thank Allah (swt) for granting us the opportunity to purchase the land adjacent to the current centre, named the Al-Qaaem Project in which to realise our aim.

The Future…

The footprint of the new plot is approx 1,876 square metres with plenty of room for expansion, should the need arise in future years. Insha Allah this centre will serve Mu’mineen in the area for many generations to come. In particular, we hope that the new centre will encourage our youth to participate in activities and events in an Islamic environment thereby instilling in them the immaculate and noble teachings of our Holy Ahlulbayt (as) and preparing us for the eagerly awaited reappearance of the Awaited Saviour, Imam Mahdi (as).
